Terms of Service

Welcome to horologist.com.au. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to the following terms. We believe in clear communication, so we keep our terms flexible to suit the unique nature of each timepiece.

1. Service & Repair Process

Every watch is different. Because of this, the following applies to all service work:

  • Case-by-Case Assessment: All service scopes, timelines, and costs are determined on an individual basis.
  • Quotes: We will provide you with a quote after an initial assessment. Work will only begin once you have approved the specific details of your repair or service.
  • Scope Changes: If we find further issues once we begin work, we will pause and discuss the best way forward with you before any additional costs are incurred.
2. Shipping & Handling
  • Arrangements: Shipping methods, insurance levels, and associated costs will be discussed and agreed upon at the time of your specific transaction or booking.
  • Responsibility: Whether you are sending a watch to us or we are returning one to you, the specific responsibilities for risk and tracking will be confirmed during our correspondence.
3. Warranty & Returns

Our policy is straightforward:

  • Complete Service: Includes a 2-year warranty.
  • Partial Repairs: No warranty is provided for partial repairs or single-part replacements unless specifically discussed and agreed upon in writing for your specific case.
  • Sales: We do not offer refunds for change of mind. If a watch sold by us develops a mechanical fault, we will repair it as needed.
  • Individual Agreements: Any specific guarantees or conditions discussed during your service or sale will take precedence.
4. Payments

Payment terms (including deposits for parts or final balance) will be outlined and agreed upon at the time of your quote or purchase. We generally require full payment for services before the return of the timepiece.

5. Liability & Care

We treat every watch with the highest level of professional care. However, as horology involves delicate and often aged components, our liability is limited to the value of the service provided or the purchase price of the item. Any specific concerns regarding high-value or vintage pieces should be discussed with us prior to work commencing.

6. Uncollected Items

If a watch is left with us for an extended period without payment or communication, we will make reasonable attempts to contact you. If we cannot reach you after a significant period (to be discussed if the situation arises), we reserve the right to take necessary steps to recover our costs.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
